VisualReads started with a simple frustration: too many books, too little time โ€“ and no good way to know whether a book was actually worth reading before committing to it.

Most summaries tell you what a book says. VisualReads tries to show you how the ideas connect โ€“ where they agree with other books, where they contradict them, and what they actually demand of you in practice.

The goal is not to replace reading. It is to help you decide what to read โ€“ and to give you enough of the core ideas to know whether the full book belongs on your shelf.

Every book on VisualReads is presented with cross-references to books that agree โ€“ marked with โ†’ โ€“ and books that contradict โ€“ marked with โ†”. This is deliberate.

No single book has all the answers. Atomic Habits and Essentialism pull in different directions. Frankl and Greene see human nature very differently. These tensions are not problems to be resolved โ€“ they are the most interesting part.

Read for yourself.
Think for yourself.
Question everything.

VisualReads is not here to tell you what to think. It is here to give you the raw material to think with.

VisualReads is a one-person project. The idea, the curation, the philosophy and every editorial decision behind the site is mine.

The research, writing and technical implementation were built in close collaboration with AI โ€“ specifically with Claude by Anthropic. Every book page, every cross-reference, every worksheet was developed through an iterative process of prompting, reviewing, refining and deciding.

AI Collaboration
Thanks to Claude for helping bring this idea to life โ€“ from the first line of HTML to the last cross-reference. VisualReads would not exist in this form without it.

This is what human-AI collaboration looks like in practice: one person with an idea and a direction, one AI that can write, build and iterate at speed. The result belongs to neither alone.
